FRANKO HEKE
Franko Heke, with roots in Ngāpuhi Māori and Italian heritage, is a devoted father to two daughters and an artist who channels his passion through mantra and reggae music. He is not just a musician but a catalyst for community wellness, organising events that nourish the soul and safeguard our Earth, living by the ethos of "He waka eke noa" – we're all in this together.
Born in the '80s, Franko's early years were shaped by the vibrant sports and rock scenes, driving his ambitions to rock stadiums or score tries. He excelled in Rugby for North Harbour and Cricket for Auckland but ultimately followed the louder call of music, a path that led him around the world, from Japan to the USA. The rock'n'roll lifestyle, however, took its toll, leading him to a transformative phase where he embraced meditation, yoga, and breathwork, stepping away from the excesses.
From this personal rebirth, he founded NZ Spirit & Resolution festivals, alcohol-free, family-centric events designed to empower individuals through holistic workshops and uplift spirits with indigenous and conscious music by night.
Furthering his commitment to sustainable living, Franko is revitalising two farms in Auckland's Kaipara Harbour into a Blue Zone – a sanctuary with a retreat centre, native forest, organic gardens, an animal refuge, music studio, and a tiny house community. This regeneration journey is being captured in a documentary with Suzy Cameron, aiming to inspire a global audience to care for themselves, their communities, and the planet.
